Choosing The Right Height of Iron Table Legs that are Bar/Counter Height 

Bar & Counter Legs Height

Standard bar table height is 42" total overall. Standard counter height table height is 36" total overall. When sizing up your tall table, keep in mind the thickness of your table top.

Bar & Counter Legs Width

We recommend the table legs be at least ⅔ the width of the tall table top. In most cases, you can go wide as possible, leaving a 1”-3” aesthetic overhang. Contact us at help@steeltablelegs.com for specific recommendations.

Bar & Counter Legs Length

Depending on the bar or counter height table base design, you may need to choose your length. We recommend a minimum of 12" from the end of the table for end seating legroom. Then, for the sides of the table, the goal is to give each person 24" for each place setting.

What about cocktail tables, is your sizing guide different for those?

Standard counter height is 36" overall. Standard bar height Nope, they are all generally 30" standard overall height. However, desk legs or kitchen table legs can be made to match your existing chair or seat height. So get out your measuring tape! We're happy to help with specific recommendations. I’m looking for “tall” table legs. Should I aim for counter or bar height?

We suggest considering how tall the tables or counters are that might be surrounding your new table, and matching those. Or if you already have counter height or bar height chairs, you'll want to match those. Otherwise, the world is your oyster.

What styles of high top table legs do you offer?

Our counter leg styles are mostly geometric modern minimalism and made from heavy duty industrial metal. 'Clear sealant' or 'Industrial Dark' finishes offer an industrial look. For a more clean look, consider Black powder coat, Silver powder coat, White powder coat, Blackened Oxide, Antiqued Copper Patina

Once I get my counter table legs, how do I attach them?

Our metal table legs come with pre drilled holes and screws for attaching. The hex head screws are zinc plated, 1/4" diameter, and 1.25" long. Be sure to drill a small pilot hole in the table top to prevent stripping of screws or cracking of wood.

I’m specifically looking for hairpin legs for a bar table - do you have those?
